The confusion between a public defender and legal aid must be avoided. The appointed lawyer is a duty counsel who will be solicited by the investigator when the person involved requests it. The legal aid allows you to benefit from a total or partial support by the State for the legal fees and expenses (lawyer, bailiff, expert, etc.) if you have a low income.
